The RODE VideoMic exhibits low noise and an unusually wide bandwidth for its size. It is ultra lightweight and incorporates a shock mount to isolate camera body noise. Its powered by a standard 9V PP3 type battery and complete with a low battery LED indicator and a switchable high pass filter to reduce unwanted low frequency rumble. It has a standard hot-shoe mount and can also be attached to a boom arm or tripod. The connection is via a 3.5mm stereo mini jack.

I have this mic as a back up for my Sennheiser MKE300. I am so very impressed by it's quality. It is cheap compared to the Sennheiser but the sound is excellent and very nearly equal to the Sennheiser. I will recommend this mic to anyone who wants very good sound recording and doesn't want to spend lots of money.

Keene replied: It will be suitable for any camcorder. It has a 3.5 mm stereo jack out so if you camcorder has XLR you would need an adaptor. Order code VXLR.

Keene replied: The cable on the Rode Videomic has a coiled cable and stretches to roughly around 50cm, If you wanted to use this with stereo camcorder you could use a adaptor which costs £1.49 and the order code is KA158.
