1 John on 22 Dec 2009 asked :
"
Is this mounted directly onto the eqipment IR input panel?
How is it mounted?
Will the size allow a sight line for me to use my IR Handset as well as mounting the IRDW?
Can I cut and splice the cable - If possible I'd like the IRDW cable to be about 0.5m long?"
Keene replied: Both the IRSFW and IRDW are designed to go over the IR receiver on the
equipment you are looking to control. And consequently they severely
reduce the amount of IR picked up by the sensor from a hand held remote
or similar. They fix with double sided pads
Use the low power emitter located just off from the set top box if you
require operation by hand held remote as well.
It is possible to cut and re-join the cable but you must maintain
polarity and as the cable is very thin it can be tricky. Might be easier
to coil and hide.
You might also want to consider that the sensor in the set top box must
not receive more than one signal at a time. So it must not "see" both
the signal from the hand held remote and the signal relayed by the IR
extender system simultaneously. Even a sniff of 2 signals will render
the signal useless.
