Frequently Asked Questions and Answers (5)

Q: The description says it is used to connect an IR receiver. I don't see any obstacles to connect it to IR emitter but I must ask to be sure: Can I use it extend an IR emitter cable?

Posted On: 04/01/2012 By: Chris

A: If it is a Keene branded emitter then yes.
Q: To expand on the question about Cat5 economisers, which particular pin numbers are connected by these adaptors?

Posted On: 17/10/2011 By: Mr Poulter

A: Pins used are 5, 6, 7 & 8, tip pin 8, ring 5+6 , gnd 7
Q: Could these adaptors be used to extend Audio signals over CAT5 and if so to what distance?

Posted On: 05/07/2010 By: Ian Cooke

A: Sorry no, these are wired for IR only. These will do the trick (C5AUDIO) http://www.keene.co.uk/stereo-audio-over-cat5-cat6-cable-extender-100m-3-5mm-jack-no-power-required-sold-in-pairs.html
Q: Is one of the 3.5mm jacks a socket to allow connection of an emitter or receiver that has a 3.5mm jack fitted. If not is some type of gender bender available to allow this.

A: You would need the KA165 http://www.keene.co.uk/electronics/multi.php?mycode=ka165
Q: Hi there, please could you tell me if these could be used with a Cat5 economiser, e.g. such that two pairs could be used over one Cat5 cable? Many thanks, Peter

A: Sorry no these will not work correctly with a cable economiser. (updated 9/2013)
